A new report surveying thousands of suburban homes has found that most Christmas lights aren’t worth this effort you are putting into them.

While a little festive spirit is encouraged – like adding a little red or green or a wreath or a plastic candy cane to your front yard – lights on your roof or on your bushes and trees doesn’t totally seem worth the effort. Roughly 69% of those surveyed said they felt this was probably a waste of time and energy, while another 23% questioned the decision at the very least.

95% surveyed also admitted they were dreading taking the lights down in a month. There was no margin of error on the survey.
